The Prophet computer

The isolated environment where Prophet browses websites, runs code and creates files — on Prophet’s infrastructure, not on your computer.

What it is for

When a request needs more than talking — opening a website, running code, building a spreadsheet — Prophet uses a computer of its own, isolated, running on its infrastructure. Nothing runs on your computer.

What it does

Browse

Opens websites, clicks, fills in forms and reads what is on the page.

Run code

Python, JavaScript and terminal commands, to analyze data, generate reports and process files.

Create files

Documents, spreadsheets, code and charts, which you open and download.

Seeing what it is doing

In a conversation, the computer opens in a side panel with three tabs — Actions, Files and Browser. To open it:

  • Click one of Prophet’s actions in the conversation
  • Use the files button at the top of the conversation
  • Or press ⌘I (Ctrl+I) with the cursor outside the message field

Security

  • Isolated — one conversation’s computer cannot see another’s
  • Secrets by name — the keys you saved in Secrets are available to Prophet by name; the value does not appear in what Prophet reads back from the output
  • Separate from your computer — faulty code only affects Prophet’s environment

In automations

Each automation run starts on a fresh computer. That is why Prophet keeps the scripts an automation reuses separately, and they come back on every run.

Limits

  • Websites with bot protection may block access
  • A sign-in with two-step verification may need you
  • An automation run stops after 30 minutes
